Another six months of internal border controls at the German-Austrian land border

After careful consideration and in consultation with the Republic of Austria, Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer has ordered the temporary reintroduction of checks at the German-Austrian land border for an additional six months, effective 12 November 2020, on the basis of Articles 25 to 27 of the Schengen Borders Code. The checks will be reintroduced for reasons of migration and security.
Federal Minister Seehofer notified the European Commission and the interior ministers of the EU member states accordingly.
