Areas of responsibility
For what areas is the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community responsible? The Federal Ministry of the Interior performs a wide variety of tasks involving a high degree of responsibility. These tasks range from protecting the Constitution and promoting social cohesion, to integration, federal sport funding, information technology and public security. The Federal Ministry of the Interior is also responsible for modernizing the state and government administration, and for core issues of our state and federal system, such as electoral law. Our political life and society are based on our free and democratic basic order, which everyone everywhere in Germany must put into practice every day. This is why volunteering and civic education are also important areas of responsibility of the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
