Germany is a world leader when it comes to sport. It makes an important contribution to the development of sport and to strengthening the values of sport at European and international level. The Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community is active at international level to further strengthen Germany's global reputation as a nation of sport. Cooperation within the Council of Europe, at EU level and within UNESCO as well as bilateral cooperation with the sport ministries of other countries is a very important part of this effort.
