The Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community is active at international level to reinforce Germany’s global reputation as a nation of sport. It gives high priority to intergovernmental cooperation in the Council of Europe, at EU level and in UNESCO, and to bilateral cooperation with the sport ministries of other countries. The Federal Ministry of the Interior maintains close cooperation of this kind with China, Spain, Russia, Israel and the Palestinian territories as an expression of its commitment to sport policy. Sport offers Germany a national and international showcase and is also a key economic factor.
