Residence Law

The Residence Act governs the entry, residence, gainful occupation and termination of residence of people who are nationals of countries other than Switzerland that are not members of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA).
Citizens of the EU, the EEA and Switzerland have the right to move freely within the EU and to enter and reside in any EU member state. But even their freedom of movement is not completely unrestricted. Their and their family members’ right to enter and reside in the EU is governed by Germany's Act on the General Freedom of Movement for EU Citizens.
