The State is strongly aware that it must set an example as a construction client, because its buildings are very much in the public eye. Alongside functionality, safety and cost-effectiveness, major building policy targets for Federal Government buildings include ensuring high quality and design excellence in architecture; sustainable and energy-efficient construction; use of innovative construction materials, techniques and procedures; architectural heritage conservation; integration of the project into local urban design; and art in architecture.
