Article Hans-Georg En­gelke

State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior

Hans-Georg Engelke was born in Frankfurt (Main) in 1964, is married and has two children.

After completing his law studies in Frankfurt (Main) and Bonn, he worked as a public prosecutor in Berlin from 1994 to 1999. In 1999, he started working at the Federal Ministry of the Interior as a policy officer and advanced to become head of division in 2003. From 2006 to 2010, he headed the directorate-general responsible for counter-terrorism and Islamist extremism at the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. After returning to the Federal Ministry of the Interior in 2011, he held executive positions related to the Federal Police and counter-terrorism before assuming leadership of the executive staff in 2014, the position he held until his appointment as state secretary.

Hans-Georg Engelke was appointed State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior in August 2015.
