Article Dr Emi­ly Haber

State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior.

Dr Emily Haber was born in Bonn in 1956. She is married and has two children.

After studying history at the University of Cologne and earning a doctoral degree she started her career as a desk officer at the Federal Foreign Office in 1982. In 1992 she was appointed Head of the Cultural Section at the German Embassy in Ankara. In 1999 she became Head of the Economic Affairs Department and in 2001 Head of the Political Department at the German Embassy in Moscow.
From 2006 to 2009 Dr Emily Haber was Deputy Director-General responsible for South-Eastern Europe and Turkey at the Federal Foreign Office. From 2009 to 2011 she was Director-General occupying the post of Political Director.

In 2011 she was appointed State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Office.

Since January 2014 Dr Emily Haber has been State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
